Youth classes focus on developing life and leadership skills while promoting confidence, focus, and respect. Curriculum incorporates teamwork and application of self-discipline both on and off the mat. The instructor assists students in applying learned techniques to daily life, using their "might for right." All classes focus on a position hierarchy to establish control. Students learn to work toward a position of advantage against an adversary without resorting to aggressive tactics like punching and kicking, allowing opportunities for a parent or teacher to intervene before a situation escalates.
We prioritize a whole life approach to Jiu Jitsu, so we require collaboration between the instructor, the student's teacher, and the parent/guardian before they advance to the next belt rank. If areas of improvement are identified, we embrace the opportunity for continued communication between support systems.
Little Champions (ages 5-8) work on listening skills, teamwork, following directions, and S.M.A.R.T. goal setting, among other life skills.
Youth Classes (ages 8-12) continue working on hierarchy of positions, adding submissions and learning techniques in greater detail.
